| He probably doesn't understand how the game works (since I presume he's just starting to walk when we started playing). Autosaver, to understand more of what I'm saying, check this very helpful website: http://www.wizards.com/playdnd/playdnd.asp THAT is the basic Dungeons and Dragons demo, reduced to its simplest form for the benefit of the uninitiated. Follow the instructions then if you have any more questions, reply to this post. -------------------------------------------------------------- As for your query about the forum, I just opened it yesterday. I have to be Jesusto be able to make it into a fully operational and gloriously complete game forum in less than one day on my own. As of today, my friends have started to register after messages of the forum's existence were sent out. | |

I was expecting an awesome spectacular game using a doom engine or something. Because it's an offline game. It's a tabletop game. A highly social tabletop game. With dice and paper and real organic friends that you can talk to. Now if I had the capacity to make my own First Person Shooter (FPS) with ragdoll physics and all that, I'd be making money out of it already. | |

| Yup, I'm trying to figure it out though still determining if it's thread type or chat-box style or something The link I posted was a primer on how to play Dungeons and Dragons version 3.5, the version that my group is playing now. | |

| yep, but we bought only the core 3 books. the rest, we got on soft copy. For my part, I've been playing it for about 17 years now, and with my current circle in the last 8 years. | |

| Yes, books. Books are actually part of the foundation, the base being the creativity and imagination of the players. While some are aids for story telling and plots, most are primarily for rules and guidelines: See the scanned copies of some of my books below: The Breath Weapon Rule, Rules Compendium p.22That would have to be an example for a basic rule. Creatures are also specified in books, for the players to fight or as an integral part of the story (often both, if the encounter would be crucial to the plot). Mostly, it looks like this: The Hellfire Wyrm, Monster Manual II p.125-----All images copyright by Wizards of The Coast-------------- | |

| LOL, that's YRM. I think he's still busy basking in his own milkiness, or something. Perfect example of white trash. | |

| Well, some are. They're mostly hardbound, and are as wide as common encyclopedias. We usually use them whenever we contest a game ruling or something, or when I'm out distributing experience points after every successful battle. | |

| LOL You can buy the novels instead, they have those for the non-playing group. I suggest ones made by Elaine Cunningham--- Daughter of the Drow and R.A. Salvatorre, --- his Dark Elf/ Drizzt Du 'Urdenn series. These are excellent authors (and yes, I try to emulate the way they write thru my own stories). The main rule books are... well, too technical, I should say. | |
