How about a story with characters that are not part of the normal good vs evil trend?


Good and evil are merely relative concepts after all.

Think of the characters in plots like "Sin City" or "Starship Troopers"

In Sin City, the characters are mostly bad asses trying to live in a cold, hard place full of gun-wielding prostitutes, gangsters, mercenaries, a serial-killing bespectacled ex-hobbit, ex-convicts, crooked cops, a horny yellow freak, and a samurai-wielding ninjutu slut.

They're all evil in one way or another. No good guys there. The only feasible good guy committed suicide. No sir. No good guys.


In Starship Troopers, there are humans... and there are millions of horribly misshapen murderous alien BUGS... BUUUGGSSSSS GODAMMIT!!!!!

Bugs are vermin and vermin are not capable of morality. So they don't count as evil, per se. You can't call a cockroach evil unless you see it come out from some hellish pus-filled orifice.



So, it seems the concept of good versus evil is not as daunting after all.
