Chapter 3: Captain John T. Tundra.
I just finished eating supper and was cleaning the dishes when I heard a car pull up to the front of my house. I put the last dish on the drying rack and I dry off my hands and walk to the door.
I wonder who that is?
As I walk to the door I hear a knock, I reach the door and unlock it and to my surprise it was my old friend standing there. Miguel Frost. He then looks at me and smirks.
Long time no see Captain Tundra.
I shake his hand and ask the obvious question.
Miguel, how did you know I was here? Oh and its just John by the way, I am retired. Well come in and we can talk some more.
Frost nods he comes in and we sit at the table. I then ask the question again.
So, what do I owe this visit?
Frost looks up to look me in the eye, I know it must be serious cause I have seen this look so many times before in the past when he and I served together in the military.
Well Capt...I mean John, I can imagine you have read in the local news papers about the Diclonious out break here.
Yes I have, so these, Diclonious....are they a serious threat now?
Frost runs his hand through his hair and lets out a sigh.
John, we have seen progress with the Diclonious population, most are harmless and are blending in well. Yet they are several others that are hell bent on killing mankind, those are the ones that we are trying to capture.
Hmm, so you need me to help you track and retrieve?
Frost let’s out a chuckle.
Well you were the best. I mean, you captured 15 terrorists and you never lost a team member. I would really like it if you would lead the team.
Frost, you know the enemy better than me, and by the sounds of things you became a great captain. I will be under your command, as your tracking and capture expert.
But...
No buts about it.
Frost just submitted after that knowing damn well I wouldn't take no for an answer.
Well alright then, we would start first thing tomorrow morning around 0500. I will pick you up around 0400?
Sounds good. I will have my gear ready.
Frost raises and eye brow in wonderment.
Yes I still have my gear from the service. It was a parting gift.
We both chuckle as we sit up form the table and I escort him to the door. I shake his hand and he leaves in his car. I lock the door and get ready for bed. It has been a long eventful day. I smile as I get ready for bed.
It will be good to get back in the field again.
