He may not be as wise as Obi Wan, but I love his transition from farm boy to Jedi knight.
him becoming a hero is all fine and dandy...but ever notice that he never really learns to use the lightsaber in the movies? Any 6 year old could swing the lightsaber the way he did.
I think Revan was the best jedi....ever.....sorta.

eh....possibly. I just don't like Luke, so it could just be my prejudice for against his character speaking.

As much as I don't like Luke, I agree with G.O.R.T.
The character development of Luke was purely original and made him a likeable character...to some.
I personally see him as a weiner, but once he ignites his lightsaber all past criticisms fade away and are replaced with pro thoughts.
It's still dumb that he beat Vader so easily, though.
