The point that you got Salmonella poisoning means that you have questionable hygiene issues.

Salmonella, FYI, can be acquired through:
1. contaminated water,
2. inadequately prepared food,
3. or through autoinnoculation.

Autoinnoculation, in its basic medical sense, is self-administration of a biological agent.

A common case would be touching something dirty (yes, dirty) and then sticking that same finger in your mouth or eating, without washing your hands properly. Hence, somehow children are more prone to that.

One of the more common species of Salmonella is S. typhi,

the agent responsible for Typhoid fever.
