Technically the sith do exist in 4,5,6. Emperor Palpatine is in the 2nd movie only and the ugly dude in the originals is The Emporer. No Palpatine involved.

But the word "sith" wasn't created until the prequel trilogy and the dark side is only considered to be "sith" by those who think the prequels are cannon with the originals.

Edit: Are you saying that is not Palpatine in VI?

I know it is Papatine, but the word wasn't used in the originals.

um...pardon me, but i must intrude...the movies were created AFTER the books...so a lot of these sith, were created waaaaaay befor the movies. Revan...is actually age old, as well as many others, such as Darth Bane, Darth Plagueis, Exar Kun, etc. The term "sith" has been around before 1983. The term "sith" was made with the books. Which eventually continued after 1983 as well.

Phantasm: my favorite sith is Darth Vader and my least favorite is Darth Sidious.

Favorite: Darth F'n Vader. Second would be Palpatine (All shall fall to the Empire)

Least: Darth Maul (I never liked the twin-ended lightsaber technique)
