Quantim Act I chapter 4

Kyle buttoned up his black shirt but left the top button undone. He wore his dark blue jeans with a chain hanging off them. He picked up his phone and checked his messages. There was one from his father and another from Tim. He listened to the message from Tim first. Nothing interesting, just him blabbering on about the party tonight. He played the message he received from his father, Alec McKenzie.

Alec McKenzie: Son, I want you to be careful tonight. I have a feeling something bad is going to happen and you along with your friends will be caught in the middle of it. Drive safe…

The message ended and Kyle put his phone in his pocket. He looked at himself in the mirror and leaned on the cabinet it was sitting on. He was trying to figure out why his father would be so concerned about him on this night. His father wasn’t around much and for some reason resented his sons. All Kyle really knew about him was that he owned this company called Quantum and they were some kind of global corporation that practically ran every government and decided which wars countries would fight in. He never talked about the company and preferred not to. He grabbed his keys and left his room shutting the door behind him. Dante was lying on the couch in the living room eating popcorn and watching a movie. He walked into the living room.

Kyle: You sure you don’t want to tag along?

Dante: Bro I am too tired to be doing anything.

Kyle: Alright then. I shouldn’t be too late but ya never know.

Dante: Little bit of sex on the beach ae?

Kyle: Funny guy, later bro!

Dante: See ya.

Kyle walked out the door and unlocked his Mustang. He got in and started it up. Dante went to the door and watched him drive away. He had the house all to himself. Now what should he do?

Kyle roared down the road in his Mustang and seemed to be lost in his thoughts. His cell phone started ringing; he picked it up and looked at the caller ID. It was Jessica. He answered.

Kyle: Hey babe what’s up?

Jessica: Nothing, when you gonna get here?

Kyle: I’ll be there in a few minutes.

Jessica: Okay, I love you.

Kyle: I love you too.

Suddenly an SUV came out of nowhere and smashed into the side of Kyle’s mustang. The Mustang rolled off the road and smashed down into the woods getting damaged by the trees. Kyle smacked his head against the door and slowly drifted away.

Ethan finished his dinner and put his plate in the dishwasher. He was living in a small hut out in the woods. It wasn’t too far from Kyle’s place but it also meant he was far away from anyone he didn’t want to see. He was heading out to the party tonight as well and was surprisingly looking forward to it. A rustle could be heard from outside. He went to the door and opened it. There was nothing outside. Just as we was about to turn away a metal pole smashed into the side of his face. Ethan fell down unconscious and was bleeding from the side of his forehead.

A black car pulled up in the outskirts of the city and two men got out of the car. They opened the boot of the car and pulled someone out. It was Alex. They got him on his feet and walked him to a hole. The hole went down a good twenty meters and leaded down into a cave. One of the men pulled out a 9mm handgun and aimed at Alex’s chest. Alex smiled and was about to make a sarcastic comment when the man shot him three times in the chest. Alex stumbled back and fell down the hole into the cave. He looked up and saw the two men staring down the hole at him. He closed his eyes and drifted into nothingness.

Tim was surrounded by four men at the power plant and knew he wasn’t getting out of this one. The men were carrying MP5’s. Tim stepped back and looked down at the drop that he knew he was about to experience. If the bullets didn’t kill him then the electricity from the power conduits would. He looked back at the men and they opened fire. The bullets pounded into him and sent him off the edge and down into the power conduits. Electricity coursed through his body. The men got in their cars and left.

Ben was being dragged into a butchery. He was bleeding from the head and had a bullet wound in his lower abdomen. The men through him in a walk in freezer and shot him once again in the chest. They slammed the door shut and locked it. Ben was left alone in the freezer. He lay back and slowly lost consciousness.

Kyle was being dragged deep into the woods and began to wake up. He realized what was happening and started to struggle. The two guys who were dragging him dropped him and kicked him while he was down. One stomped on his back and kicked him in the face. There was a third man with them and he crouched beside Kyle. He didn’t see his face, Kyle’s sight was blurry. Better for the third man.

Third man: Finish him off.

Kyle heard him walk away and turned to see him slowly disappear into the woods. He heard a gun click and tilted his head to stare down the barrel of the gun. There was a flash and then nothing……
