Halo:ODST struggled to get Halo 3 sales.

It might have to do with the "ODST IS AN EXPANSION PACK" stuff.

I just think there are some true die-hard fans out there who will never let it completely fall off. Some people just love Halo more than anything else...

One of the main reasons ODST didn't do well was because of it's campaign. Everyone was used to being the super soldier and destroying everything in their path but in ODST you were just human. Plus it only lasted like 6 hours which is a more than a DLC would add on, but not long enough to sell as it's own game; which is why they included the multiplayer disc with all the maps they had released.

Halo won't die out for a little while because of Reach. But once 343 studios takes it over there is a possibility that it'll come out with new inventive games in the halo universe OR fail hardcore.

Typically shooters last a long time even when little to no truly new content is added. The concept of point, shoot, and kill without actually killing anyone appeals to boys and girls of all ages.

As we all know, gameplay changes hurt the game badly. (Halo Wars)

They better keep it a FPS or they'll get a change in sales.

just so ya know halo wars was not made by bungie. halo reach is gonna be a shooter. its gonna have loadouts and the multiplayer beta will have a max party of 22 people per game. the actual game's party size is still unknown. halo reach is gonna be halo on steroids. the melee systems has been completely redone and the spartans can now be equipped with perks. the game is making some positive changes if you ask me and so far the lucky beta testers like the gameplay. can't wait for this to come out.
