Disaster in Haiti - My rant about things

Over 200,000 people dead.......EAT THAT SAMOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I know that may seem very inappropriate and extremely rude, I agree. But a few months ago, I guess you guys all know about this, Samoa was hit by a Tsunami. Now the media made it out to be a huge disaster that crippled the entire country, when in fact it was only a very small area that was affected. Unfortunately 100 people died and that is tragic but not nearly as tragic as 200,000 deaths.

A friend of our family was actually in Samoa when it happened and during the aftermath they went to have a look to see how bad it was and they told us that the water only came in 2km. 2KM! That is sh*t! These guys got so much attention and so much relief when countries like Thailand got nothing on the Boxing Day Tsunami. Okay maybe I exaggerate when I say they got "nothing", they did get relief at least a week after the tragedy but Samoa got relief the very day we heard about it. The New Zealand Army and the Australian Army flew over there immediately with supplies and made everything okay.

But back to Haiti, things are getting quite bad over there. People are fighting over what food and water they can find. Now American troops have been deployed to "keep the peace" and "escort relief". That's a bit of a joke really, isn't it? The Americans will go and help the Haitians but they won't help their own people in New Orleans? Score one for the U.S of A!!

Oh, Haiti is going to be hit by another earthquake sooner then you can say hi. We can't help them forever.

I can answer this whole little conspiracy theory. I think it has to do something with 2 things: Publicity stunts, and Alliances. If Haiti knows that America will help it in its times of needs, it will most likely return the favor. Same with Samoa. If they got relief on the same day like you said, there's a reason for it. There's always a reason for the gov'ts actions. I say publicity stunts, because America has always been viewed as a big bully. They're trying to help out these other countries cuz they wanna be viewed as the good guy. Unfortunately, it's working too...
